Privacy Policy

Account information: When you create a Khozio account, we collect your email address, username, display name, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.

Profile information: Information you add to your profile - such as your bio, city, avatar photo, and interests - is stored and used to personalise your experience.

Content you create: When you create a recommendation, we store your text, rating, media (photos/videos), the entity (place or product) you are recommending, and associated metadata.

Interactions: We collect data about how you interact with content - including likes, saves, follows, comments, search queries, and posts you view - to personalise your discovery feed.

Media: Photos and videos you upload are stored securely in our cloud storage. We do not use your media to train AI models without explicit consent.

Location information: If you associate a location with a recommendation, we store that location. We do not track your real-time device location without your explicit permission.

Device and browser information: We collect standard technical information such as your browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers to provide and improve our service.

Cookies: We use cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in) and for storing your preferences. See our Cookie Policy for more details.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Khozio service
• Personalise your discovery feed and recommendations
• Enable social features such as following, liking, and commenting
• Send you notifications about activity on your content and account
• Detect and prevent abuse, spam, fake accounts, and content that violates our policies
• Respond to your support requests
• Understand how users interact with Khozio so we can improve it
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Public information: Your username, display name, profile photo, bio, city, and the recommendations you post publicly are visible to other Khozio users and to search engines.

Followers/Following: Your follower and following lists are visible to other users by default.

Service providers: We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Khozio, including cloud hosting, database services, analytics, and email delivery. These providers process your information only as necessary to deliver services to Khozio and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process (such as a court order), or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Khozio, our users, or others.

Business transfers: If Khozio is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.

Some information may be retained in backup systems for a limited time after deletion. Certain content - such as comments on other users' posts - may remain visible in anonymised or attributed form.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (TLS)
• Secure password hashing (we never store plaintext passwords)
• Row-level security on our database
• Access controls limiting who within Khozio can access personal data
• Regular security reviews

No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection: Object to certain types of processing.

You can delete your Khozio account at any time from Settings.

Khozio is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, your use of Khozio may require parental consent depending on the laws of your jurisdiction.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Khozio platform and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Khozio after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
